Privacy policy: Maplesprint Notify
Last updated: October 19, 2026
This policy covers the Atlassian Forge app Maplesprint Notify: Jira to Google Chat (the "app"), provided by Maplesprint, an independent business based in Ontario, Canada ("we"). For our website, see the website privacy page.
The short version
The app runs entirely on Atlassian Forge. We operate no servers that receive your data, and we cannot read your Jira data or the app's stored data. When a notification rule matches, the app sends a message to the Google Chat space that your administrators connected. That is the only place data goes.
Data sent to Google Chat
Each message can contain: the issue key and summary, the issue type, the status, priority and assignee, the display name of the person who made the change, the old and new values of the changed fields (status, assignee, priority, resolution), an excerpt of up to 500 characters of a new comment with its author's name, and a link to the issue in Jira. Messages go to the webhook URL that your administrator added, at chat.googleapis.com. What Google does with the messages is governed by your agreement with Google. Anyone who can read the space can read the messages, so connect only spaces whose members may see this information.
Issues with a security level are not sent unless a Jira administrator turns that setting on.
Data stored by the app
The app stores the following in Forge hosted storage, which is operated by Atlassian and is located according to your Forge data residency settings:
- Configuration: Google Chat space names, the webhook URLs (stored encrypted and never shown again after saving), the account ID of the administrator who added each space, rules (events, JQL, status and issue type IDs, format, thread behavior) and app settings. Kept until you remove them.
- Delivery log: for each delivery, the time, the issue key, the result and an error text if any, up to 50 entries per space. Kept for at most 14 days.
- Temporary processing data: the pending change (issue key, project key, account ID of the person who made the change, changed values and comment excerpt), deleted right after delivery and in any case within 1 day; markers that prevent duplicate messages (event IDs), kept for at most 3 days; markers used to detect bulk changes (account IDs and issue IDs), kept for 60 seconds; and the current thread of each issue in a space, kept for up to 60 days.
- Site address: the base URL of your Jira site, cached for one day to build links.
When the app runs, Atlassian also keeps application logs. Our code logs only the issue key, an event ID and the kind of change; it does not log comment text, webhook URLs or tokens.
Data we receive
None automatically. We only see what you choose to send us, for example when you write to support. We use it to answer you and to fix problems, and we delete it when it is no longer needed.
Who processes data
- Atlassian hosts the app and its storage and delivers Jira events to it.
- Google receives the messages for the spaces you connect.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising or share it with anyone else.
Uninstalling and deletion
You can remove a Google Chat space or a rule in the app at any time, which deletes its stored data. If you uninstall the app, Atlassian keeps its hosted storage for a limited period (currently 28 days, according to Atlassian's Forge documentation) and then deletes it. To ask for earlier deletion or for a copy of what the app stores about you, write to us.
Security
Webhook URLs are stored as Forge encrypted secrets. Only Jira administrators can manage spaces and settings, and only project administrators can manage a project's rules; the app checks this on every request. The app asks Atlassian for these permissions: read Jira work and users (to build messages), and app storage. Its only outbound connection is to chat.googleapis.com. To report a vulnerability, write to support@maplesprint.com with "Security" in the subject.
Your rights
We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold. Because the app's data lives in your Atlassian site, your organization is usually the controller of it, and your administrator can act on it directly in Jira and Google Chat.
Changes
If we change what the app collects, we update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
